Historical Fashion creates custom garments based on your particular requirements and your personal measurements. If you are considering ordering clothing, please read my policies below:
1) After I receive an email indicating that you are interested in a garment, I will contact you to arrange an appointment for us to discuss the particulars. This may be by telephone, in person, or via an instant messenger chat.
2) If you decide you are interested in a quote I will provide, at no cost to you, a sketch of at least one design that represents what we discussed, fabric suggestions and an approximate price and completion date.
3) If you decide you wish to pursue the order, we will spend some time choosing fabrics and materials so that I can quote you a more accurate price. At that time, I will be sending you swatches of proposed fabrics. There is a charge of $10.00 (USD) for a swatched quote to cover the cost of obtaining swatches.
4) You've decided to go ahead with the order. At this point we will sign a contract with full details of fabrics, notions, design considerations, delivery time and a "not-to-exceed" price. Please understand that this price is based on my MAXIMUM estimate of the hours of labor needed to complete your project and in all likelihood your actual cost will be less.
5) Once the contract is signed, our actual work begins. You will receive a measurement form that MUST be filled out accurately. This means another person needs to take your measurements over whatever underpinnings you plan to wear beneath your garment. Yes, if you are wearing a corset, measure over the corset. If you are ordering a corset, measure over a lightweight T-shirt as your corset will be worn over a chemise. The accuracy of these measurements is vital. Historical Fashion is not liable for the fit of any garment based on inaccurate measurements. If you are in doubt, please visit a tailor shop and have them take your measurements. And NO vanity ladies; it's only a number.
6) At this point I will draft your pattern. If you live within driving distance of my shop, we will meet to fit the pattern in person. If you are out of driving range, I will construct a muslin for fitting and send it to you with full instructions for marking any alterations.
7) Now I begin work. I will keep in touch with you to keep you up to date about the progress of your project. You will be able to view pictures of the work-in-process at the Historical Fashion website.
8) I finish your lovely garment and ship it off to you. If any small changes need to be made for fit or comfort, I will make them without charge for 2 weeks after you receive your clothes. If there are construction errors - a piece of trim comes off, the lining pops loose - I will, of course, correct them at no charge.
9) Alterations for weight gain or loss are not included in the price. There will be an extra charge for making those changes. Also, design changes you initiate after the contract has been signed may increase the price. If a change you request affects the cost, I will confirm it with you in writing before I proceed.
